3Dponics Inc., creator of the first 3D-printable hydroponics system, is releasing its first MakerBot-Ready App to enable anyone to a3D print their own 3Dponics parts: the 3Dponics Customiser.
The Kickstarter success story is taking its system mobile with an app that allows users to design their own gardens by tinkering with the shape, size and orientation of the original 3Dponics part.
The 3Dponics Customiser is currently one of just a few apps to be featured by leading desktop 3D printer manufacturer MakerBot, which already hosts its own app system allowing users to easily produce pieces like jewellery, vases and lettering in its MakerBot PrintShop.
The app works on any platform and in any browser meaning that anyone, regardless of skill level or 3D-modelling experience, can access it.
“Now that the 3Dponics Customiser is a MakerBot-Ready App, we expect more people will build 3Dponics, since getting started will be easier and faster,” said Michael Golubev, Founder and CEO of 3Dponics Inc. “Not only that, but it will be more fun and educational. We expect this app will encourage MakerBot users to take on more meaningful 3D-printing projects, to get creative with their designs and to build the most efficient 3Dponics system yet.”
Users simply download the 3Dponics customisation app and start designing their own unique parts for 3Dponics. From there, they can connect their MakerBot via Wifi to access the MakerBot-Ready Apps portal and select the 3Dponics Customiser. Their list of custom parts will be there so all they have to do is start the print on their MakerBot Fifth Generation Replicator.
