3MF Consortium Founding Members pre-EOS
EOS will join a host of other additive manufacturing companies as Founder members of 3MF Consortium.
Industrial 3D printing company, EOS has joined the Founding membership level of 3MF Consortium, an industry association created to develop and promote a new full-fidelity file format for 3D printing.
EOS joins fellow 3D printing leaders, Stratasys, 3D Systems and FIT AG, as well as tech giant Microsoft, as founder members of the initiative.
The 3MF Consortium was formed in a bid to close the gap between the capabilities of modern 3D printers and outdated file formats. Eliminating the problems associated with file formats currently available, the 3MF specification also resolves interoperability and functionality issues and enables companies to focus more on innovation. Members of the Consortium, whether Founding or Associate, are required to work together to develop, enhance and promote the 3MF specification.
EOS, a leading technology supplier in the field of metal 3D printing and polymers, will be the latest company to develop and promote the 3MF specification. A pioneer in the field of Direct Metal Laser Sintering and a provider of a leading polymer technology, EOS is happy to become a member of the 3MF specification, citing its important role in the industry as the lure of the company’s knowledge and experience.

Launched in 2015, the 3MF Consortium is a Joint Development Foundation project. The first version and extensions of the 3MF specification are available now for download at no charge. Two levels of 3MF Consortium membership are available – Founding and Associate.
