iglidur stock plates
Industrial plastics expert igus UK has increased its popular iglidur stock bar range to include iglidur stock plate, an additional offering that promises to increase design flexibility when customising special parts.
The new iglidur stock bar material that comes in sheets rather than the standard round bars is available in a variety of thicknesses, from 2 mm to 25 mm. The new product is made from the iglidur J tribo-plastic material, which boasts low coefficients of friction and wear in dry operation, as well as low moisture absorption, vibration dampening and chemical resistance. Furthermore, the plastic is self-lubricating and so requires absolutely no maintenance.
Additionally, iglidur stock plate is available in an FDA-approved material that is suitable for prototype building in food, beverage and medical technology. Physical and thermal properties of this material are an upper-long and short term application temperature range from 90 °C to 120 °C with a lower application temperature of -50°C.
The most attractive benefit of iglidur stock plates is that they create more possibilities in design than ever before. Designer engineers can now obtain moulded or machined parts, such as bespoke components, wear plates and strips more easily with less waste, which in turn equals less cost.
Stock plates from igus are available from stock in seven different sizes, additionally, if required can be machined by igus via the speedicut service igus® Speedigus.
