GE Additive has announced Jason Oliver as its CEO and Vice President, as Mohammad Ehteshami assumes an advisory role ahead of his retirement later this year.
Oliver joined General Electric’s dedicated 3D printing division on January 1st and, while overseeing GE Additive’s operations, including Concept Laser, Arcam and GeonX, will report to GE Vice Chairman, David L. Joyce. He was previously at Dover Corporation and has significant experience in commercial and technical environments, both domestically and internationally. Before Dover Corp, Oliver also held leadership roles at Heidelberg Druckmaschinen AG, and was the co-founder of digital label printing company, Jetrion.
“I am thrilled to have Jason join our team,” commented GE Vice Chairman David Joyce. “We held a thorough search process and I’m confident we have the right leader to further develop GE Additive and establish the business as the leader in the industry.”
Oliver takes over from Ehteshami, who will now see out his career as a GE Additive advisor. Under his leadership GE Additive imposed itself on the additive market by outlining ambitious aims, and completing acquisitions of Concept Laser and Arcam, two of the industry’s leading metal 3D printing firms. Their combined workforces grew from around 450 employees to more than 1,100, production capacity was expanded threefold, and around $200m was invested into research and development. In recent weeks and months, the hard work began to bear fruit: new machines were launched, including the A.T.L.A.S project system at formnext and the H1 binder jet prototype and new facilities in Montreal, Canada; and Munich and Lichtenfels in Germany were established.
Joyce added: “What Mohammad has accomplished in one year is a business case for how to industrialise new innovative technologies utilising GE resources across organisations and disciplines.”
