Additive Manufacturing
MIT Professional Education has introduced a new additive manufacturing short course designed for engineers and designers.
Additive Manufacturing: From 3D Printing to the Factory Floor will be held from July 21st-25th at MIT's world famous campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and will be led by Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering John Hart, who is also the Mitsui Career Development Chair at the institution.
The programme has been made to benefit manufacturing and design engineers, and professionals from the world of science and architecture from all over the US and beyond who wish to take on board the MIT experience within a short timeframe.
The course will concentrate on an overview of the maturing additive manufacturing industry, spanning from the fundamentals to applications and technology trends.
Hart commented: "Additive manufacturing covers many application areas including aerospace components, electronics, medical devices, architectural designs, and consumer products. Participants will take part in lab sessions that will provide a hands-on experience with a variety of state-of-the-art desktop 3D printers."
MIT Professional Education provides a range of training programmes for science, engineering and technology professionals, with the Short Programs offering willing learners more than 40 industry-centred two- to five-day sessions. Many of these schemes are held over the summer months, where participants can learn from leading MIT faculty staff and gain vital insights into their industries in order to help them drive their career progression and business development.
Upon completion of a Short Program, students receive an MIT Professional Education certificate of completion, continuing education units and access to MIT Professional Education's vast network of professional alumni.
Anna Mahr, Director of Short Programs at MIT Professional Education, stated: "Our Short Programs courses give professionals from around the world the opportunity to learn from MIT faculty who are leaders in their field. They then take home valuable skills and working knowledge that can be applied directly to their work."
Enrolment is officially open to qualifying professionals from the US and internationally via the MIT Professional Education website.
