Objet Eden260V
3D printer manufacturer and technology developer Stratasys has unveiled the new Objet Eden260V Dental Advantage 3D printer - an easy-to-use product providing access to digital dentistry technology at a low cost.
Stratasys chose the LMT Lab Day Show in Chicago as the venue for the big reveal, where the 3D printer will be on display from today (February 21st 2014) and tomorrow.
The technology is designed for dental labs that need faster treatment times and an enhanced profit model, as the Objet Eden 260V produces dental models and surgical guides in-house directly from intraoral scanner output. Similarly, orthodontic labs may reduce their outgoings using this technology, by 3D printing accurate and smooth models for orthodontic appliances, which can help increase their competitive edge.
This latest model from the Stratasys family features a bespoke materials package and a build tray that is 20-40 per cent larger than that of alternatives for the dental sector. This allows users to improve workflow and optimise productivity by printing more models in a single build. The 3D printer also features printing speeds that are up to 33 per cent faster than other dental 3D printing products.
Based on Stratasys' successful Eden platform, the Objet Eden 260V Dental Advantage 3D printer harnesses Stratasys' pedigree of innovation to enable production of ultra-high resolution 3D models. These benefits are enhanced by the 3D printer's small copier-sized footprint, which makes it ideal for any lab or dental practice.
Avi Cohen, Director of Global Dental at Stratasys, commented: "Stratasys continues to make digital dentistry happen and is fully committed to this market. The Objet Eden 260V Dental Advantage 3D printer is a cost-effective solution package that is designed to increase productivity and turnaround times while delivering precision prototypes and production parts."
In addition, Stratasys has unveiled the new VeroGlaze dental material to be used with the Objet EdenV and OrthoDesk 3D printers, allowing dental practitioners to replicate teeth in realistic colours.
"The new VeroGlaze dental material is our first step towards 3D printing teeth color models with remarkable color matching of the A2 color shade," Cohen stated.
The material can be used in conjunction with all open intra-oral, impression and plaster scanners and is optimised for 3D printing models for crowns, bridge restorations, diagnostic wax-ups and try-in veneers.
Yves Dossche, Manager of Remedent in Belgium, a leading manufacturer of veneers for the dental industry, commented: "Appearance and accuracy are everything in our business and we’re delighted with the details and resolution of the models being produced on our Objet Eden260V 3D Printer with the new VeroGlaze."
VeroGlaze expands Stratasys' growing family of materials for digital dentistry. Designed especially for use in dental and orthodontic solutions, these materials combine accurate detail visualizstion with high dimensional stability. They are used by the Objet EdenV and OrthoDesk line of 3D printers which print ultrafine 16 micron layers for exceptional detail and surface finish.
