Celebrating 10,000 3D printers in the network.
Just before jetting off to CES we predicted it wouldn’t be too long before the 3D Hubs team were blowing out the candles on the big 10,000 celebratory cake. Well day two of the 2015 International CES officially marks the huge milestone for the Dutch start-up as they announce hitting the 5 figure mark in the world’s largest network of 3D printers at the TCT hosted 3D Printing Conference.
In just one year the community has seen phenomenal growth from 2,500 3D printers to 10,000, giving over 1 billion people access to a 3D printer within 10 miles of their home.
Having partnered with companies such as Autodesk and Fairphone, the company has positioned itself as a valuable commodity to designers and businesses all over the world, joining creators, makers and consumers together. The Fairphone collaboration in 2014 saw the community champion the most successful use case of distributed manufacturing as 192 Hubs produced 4,317 smartphone cases for customers.
The community vibe at 3D Hubs is evident in their international 3D printing events (Team TCT attended one just last night and they really are a great place to interact with people from across this diverse industry – plus, cocktails are always a bonus – when in Vegas!) 222 3D printing events have been organised by the community with over 8,000 people in attendance across 76 different countries.
Speaking at the 3D Printing Conference hosted by TCT + Personalize at the 2015 International CES, CEO Bram de Zwart commented: “We want to thank our community for helping us to grow to 10,000 3D printers on the platform. If you want to get a 3D Print here in Vegas it would probably arrive before you left the city!"
