Following a successful Kickstarter campaign, Shining3D’s desktop 3D scanner, the EinScan-S is now available to pre-order.
The device, which debuted in January at CES 2015, is set for delivery before the end of August at a price point of $899.
EinScan-S is the world's first white light desktop 3D scanner boasting fast, accurate, safe 3D scanning for creative home 3D printing applications.
The scanner adopts structured white light technology and features both automatic scan and free scan modes. The automatic scan is designed for small objects which can be scanned with a single click to create a printable 3D model in less than 3 minutes. The free scan mode is used for larger items in a scan area of up to 700 mm x 700 mm x 700mm at a scan accuracy of less than 0.1mm.
The scanner’s Kickstarter campaign raised an impressive $123,022, smashing its initial target of $50,000. Development of the scanner continued throughout the campaign to make the EinScan-S smarter and more portable with several design upgrades. In September a software update is expected to enable a colour texture scan function to deliver more accurate scan results from different surfaces.
The EinScan-S is primarily aimed at home users looking to replicate household items from objects such as figurines to everyday items like vases. The automatic scan function means creating compatible for desktop 3D printers is simplified to provide ease of use for first time users.
Shining3D will exhibit its growing range of 3D technology next week at the debut TCT Asia show in Shanghai. Joining industry leaders on the show floor, the three day event will feature a range of industrial and consumer focused machines along with a stellar summit programme including talks from some of the industry’s most influential speakers. The event takes place on 12-14 March at the Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Center of International Sourcing.
