A new 3D printing maker space is set to become one of Australia’s first public access spots for 3D printing technology. Three Farm, a social design enterprise based in Sydney, will launch the Maker Place Pop Up Shop this week which includes 3D printing and scanning.
The workshop will be a free, child friendly event introducing the community to the wonders of 3D printing technology. Key exhibitors from the industry will be on hand to demonstrate the possibilities of what can be achieved through 3D printing. XYZ Workshop’s ‘In Bloom’ 3D dress, which featured in New York earlier this year will be on display along with several 3D printed titanium made objects from CSIRO.
The event is being held with support from RENEW Australia, a creative social enterprise designed to catalyse community revitalisation and will utilise materials and tools donations from OSS Digital and Booth & Taylor Hardware.
For the last few years the project has been teaching 3D printing and sustainable design methods to the public through mobile workshops. The aim of the project is to engage the community with a new generation of making and give people the same experiences with 3D printing that are happening at various maker spaces all over the world. Free Farm hopes to become a part of the speedy growth of the 3D printing movement by building a community that thrives through innovative collaboration.
The event takes place on 12th September at the Italian Forum, Norton Street Leichhardt.
