Materialise has announced the launch of a build processor for SLM Solutions 3D printers.
The SLM Build Processor is available for purchase to support the ecosystem that joins software and machines together.
Materialise partners with 3D printer manufacturers to create build processors that link software with the machine to give users more control over 3D print jobs.
The processors work in a similar fashion to printer drivers on computers that relay feedback on 2D print jobs, the result is more control for operators when working with 3D printers.
This SLM Build Processor is an ideal solution for businesses running factories for 3D printing due to the seamless data flow allowing for maximum ease of use. The two-way communication between software and the 3D printer makes it easy for the operator to trace and store data on specific jobs.
Users of SLM Solutions’ range of metal 3D printers, particularly in the aerospace, energy, healthcare and automotive manufacturing sectors, will benefit from an improved user experience. With a more much streamlined flow of data, users will be in a better position to get the most out of their prints resulting in high-quality complex parts.
Going forward, the company intends to release several processors and is looking towards future releases with other partners.
Materialise will feature at EuroMold 2014 later this month in Frankfurt, Germany to demonstrate their latest innovative projects and also lead the 3D printed Slot Car Race. The event takes place in Frankfurt Exhibition Centre from 25th-28th November.
