Instant photography specialist, Polaroid is to accentuate its venture into the 3D printing industry by announcing several products at CES 2017.
A global instant and digital camera brand since the 1940s, Polaroid first revealed its plan to enter the 3D printing market in January 2016. One year on, it is set to present a series of 3D printers and 3D pens. The technologies are said to be easy-to-use and more accessible to the general public.

Meanwhile the 3D pens have been designed to allow users to design 3D models using ABS or PLA filament. Both pen models come with 10m of starter filament to get the user up and running. While the two pens offer the same capabilities, they differ in one major way. The DRW100 3D model is a wired pen, while the DRW101 3D model is wireless and comes with an internal battery and charging stand.

“Creativity has always been at the heart of our brand,” said Scott W. Hardy, President and CEO of Polaroid. “For 80 years, we have given consumers the ability to express themselves and explore their own creativity, with the medium of instant photography top of mind. We could not be more excited to now offer another dimension with our new line of 3D printers and pens. Whether it be artwork, prototypes, jewellery or models, we’re eagerly awaiting what our customers will create and just where their imaginations will take them.”
The printers, available from July 2017, have an expected Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of between $499 and $799. The pens have an MSRP of between $129 and $149 and will be available from March, along with the accompanying filament.
Polaroid will be presenting its new 3D technologies at LVCC Central Hall Booths #16024 and #16614.
