HP announces milestone and growing customer portfolio.
According to a report by HP, more than 10 million parts were printed with its Multi Jet Fusion technology last year. It’s a significant number for the tech company, which just a year ago announced it had totalled a number of 3.5 million parts printed since its launch in 2016, 50% of which were for end-use applications.
HP’s portfolio of machines and customers is expanding rapidly and at the Additive Manufacturing Users Group conference in Chicago next week, the company plans on showcasing new customers, applications and technology, which will no doubt drive HP swiftly towards its next milestone.
“We are seeing an explosion of new applications across industries taking advantage of the design freedom, superior economics, speed, and industrial-grade quality unlocked by HP and its partners,” said Christoph Schell, President of 3D Printing and Digital Manufacturing, HP Inc. “As we continue to expand our plastics and metals portfolio across both prototyping and production, and build out our community of global partners, we are helping customers save money, accelerate time to market, and improve sustainability as they progress on their digital manufacturing journey.”
One of those customers is Fast Radius, a leading additive manufacturing solutions provider which houses a number of 3D printing technologies at its Chicago factory, including MJF. Fast Radius delivers final parts to a range of customers across automotive, defense, industrial products and more – that also includes HP itself. Inspired by an internal initiative at HP called “Reinventing HP with Multi Jet Fusion”, the company is applying its own printing technology to re-engineer and produce parts for its own machines, including more than 140 components on its Jet Fusion 300/500 Series.

HP will be sharing a number of customer and partner stories during the AMUG conference such as Fast Radius, GKN Powder Metallurgy and Paramtech, the latter two of which are production partners on HP’s new Metal Jet technology. HP says Metal Jet is now “widely available for final parts production” and offers production grade metal parts up to 50 times faster and significantly cheaper than current metal AM systems.
