Assets of Aleph Objects including the LulzBot brand have been acquired by FAME 3D.
Aleph Objects, the manufacturer behind the open source LulzBot 3D printer brand, has been acquired by Fargo Additive Manufacturing Equipment (FAME 3D).
Following news last month that the Colorado-based company had laid of 91 of its 113 staff due to cash flow problems, on Friday it announced a buyer had been found in the form of FAME 3D which is now providing financial backing to support the company’s open source legacy and desktop 3D printing products.
According to a report by Loveland Reporter-Herald, FAME 3D, based in Fargo (not to be confused with another Fargo-based 3D printing brand, Fargo 3D Printing) is said to be a limited-liability corporation set up by a venture capitalist to buy the assets of Aleph Objects.
Grant Flaharty, CEO of Aleph Objects, and now FAME 3D commented: “LulzBot is one of the core leaders in the Desktop 3D Printing Industry. It’s an organisation filled with intelligent, innovative people and solutions that are changing the opportunities for Manufacturing and Medicinal Markets. We couldn’t stand by and watch that type of innovation to go unrealised.”
In a statement released on Friday, Aleph Objects is said to be “placing a renewed effort on customer support and responsiveness to customer feedback to help improve its current and future product offerings.”
The company also stated that its LulzBot TAZ Worhorse, TAZ Pro, and Mini 2 3D printers continue to be available to customers.
