BASF 3D Printing Solutions (B3DPS) has announced a brand name change ahead of its appearance at Formnext and will introduce several new materials in the coming months.
The company will continue to operate as Forward AM, which has been coined to emphasise BASF’s future-oriented approach to the 3D printing space. Underscoring this drive in Frankfurt, Forward AM will showcase its extensive portfolio of material products which is set to expand through 2020.
B3DPS was set up back in July 2017 and has since aligned with several additive manufacturing (AM) hardware vendors, introducing materials for extrusion, powder bed fusion and digital light processing technologies. Among the most noteworthy, perhaps, is the Ultrafuse 316L metal-polymer filament designed for desktop extrusion platforms, but, in the next few months, the company will roll out new products across a number of AM disciplines.
In the new year, Forward AM will introduce an advanced flexible coating which has been developed in collaboration with HP for its Multi Jet Fusion platform. This coating is said to be well suited to flexible materials like the company’s Ultrasint TPU 01 and will be available in black, white, metallic silver and transparent. Joining this coating in Q1 will be three additions to Forward AM’s Ultrafuse offering. In January, the company will make sample volumes of its Ultrafuse TPU 95A, Ultrafuse ABS ESD and Ultrafuse PEI 9085 materials available, with larger volumes set to be accessible by the spring of 2020. Meanwhile, a new ceramic filament will be presented at Formnext.
Also at Formnext, Forward AM will highlight a range of applications that have harnessed its range of 3D printing materials. Its booth will feature 3D printed façade elements which stand at two metres tall and one metre wide, while a full-sized surfboard printed from Ultrafuse rPET recycled filaments will also be present. Engine brackets printed in Ultrasint PA6 MF material on a Farsoon printer in collaboration with Daimler will be showcased, as will a camera housing made with Ultracur3D in partnership with Origin.
Forward AM will be based in Hall 12.1, Booth D21 at Formnext between November 19-22.
