BCN3D Technologies, a Barcelona-based desktop 3D printing OEM, has launched the Sigma R19 and Sigmax R19 platforms and will debut them at the upcoming TCT Show.
The new machines are available immediately, with shipping commencing as early as next week.
They boast a new extrusion system, which comprise extruders powered by Bondtech and hotends optimised by e3D, a filament runout sensor, ‘mirror’ and ‘duplication’ print modes, a refined graphical user interface, and new slicing software in the BCN3D Cura 2.1.0.
The new extrusion system is helping to provide greater quality to the prints on the R19 systems. Improved hotends enable smoother and a more reliable extrusion of material – and are also compatible with all previous Sigma and Sigmax printers – while the extruders’ drive gears eliminate grinding issues. These are particular benefits for the Sigmax R19, since it is being marketed as a professional-grade platform.
Meanwhile, prints are now paused when filament runs out, a full-colour touchscreen enhances usability, and the ‘mirror’ and ‘duplication’ enable the user to print the same model, or its symmetrical, with both toolheads simultaneously, doubling the production capacity. The dual toolheads also allows printing in two different colours, or printing with a PVA water soluble support for more intricate parts. Six hotends ranging from 0.3mm to 1.0mm are supported by the new printers, as are a host of materials including PLA, Nylon, PET-G, and TPU.
“For this new generation of BCN3D printers, not only have we worked on creating a great hardware but also in improving the user experience, creating a refined graphic user interface with new informative screens, maintenance recommendations, new guided assistants, and access to advanced settings,” commented Marc Felis, BCN3D Technologies Marketing Manager. “The ultimate test of a product comes when the users confront it, not just from a list of it specifications. That’s why we’ve taken special care of each phase of the user experience.”
BCN3D is to offer these R19 enhancements to owners of Original and R17 machines through upgrade kits, which will be available in November.
“Our experience says that being Open Source it has no sense to keep old users trapped in old features wanting them to purchase a new machine to catch up with the rest of the community. Instead, we want the maximum number of users to enjoy the new features, that’s why we will release these kits,” said Xavier Martinez, BCN3D CEO. “Furthermore, following our commitment with the Open Source community, all CAD files of the new R19 3D printed will be published during the following months.”
BCN3D will showcase the R19 machines on Stand #L47 at TCT Show later this month.
