BigRep, a 3D printing technology start-up headquartered in Berlin, has hired Frank Marangell as its new President for its US operations and the Executive Vice President of Global Sales.
Marangell, formerly the Rize CEO and President of Objet USA, is latest senior appointment as BigRep invests in an experienced team to oversee its global functions. He follows Moshe Aknin, Stratasys' former CTO, who was hired in the same position earlier this summer.
“This is a very exciting summer,” said Rene Gurka, CEO of BigRep GmbH. “We have added Mosh Aknin as our new CTO, started a successful funding round and have now secured the perfect candidate to lead and expand our U.S. operations. Frank Marangell is the best candidate for any 3D company in the U.S. When he became available I immediately reached out to him and offered him this role at BigRep.”
Marangell, the holder of a BS in engineering and MBA from Northeastern University in Boston, MA, became available in May this year, after serving as Rize CEO for over three years. Prior to that, from 2006 to 2013, he held his position at Objet USA, and later Stratasys’ Vice President of Global Field of Operations, as the latter company acquired the former.
His experience working in some of the leading 3D printing businesses, overseeing their global operations, meant a no-brainer for BigRep. Equally, Marangell has been impressed with BigRep’s performance since its foundation in 2014, and is excited to settle into his new roles.
“I have been following BigRep for the last three years and appreciate their high-quality large industrial printers,” Marangell said. “BigRep already has customers all over the U.S. and now it’s the perfect time to build a larger U.S. team and grow the business.
“In my view, BigRep is the most successful new European 3D printing company with the most trusted large-scale printers. It is quality German engineering at a very competitive price.”
