Machine tool leader, DMG MORI has announced it is boosting its additive manufacturing (AM) capabilities with a 30% stake in India-based metal AM company, INTECH DMLS.
Announced at Formnext 2018 in Frankfurt, the deal gives DMG MORI access to key software for generative production with INTECH’s OPTOMET solution designed for “first time right” AM. OPTOMET automatically calculates the optimal process parameters which simplifies programming and results in a improved surface quality as well as reproducible material properties. Though DMG MORI does offer its own LASERTEC SLM series of AM solutions, the software will not be exclusive to the company’s products and can be leveraged by customers using other powder bed technologies.
“With INTECH we strengthen our global footprint in India and accelerate innovative development in additive manufacturing. First time right – that means being fast towards the first good part. We are actively pushing ahead with integrated series solutions along the whole process chain for generative manufacturing", says Christian Thönes, Chairman of the Executive Board of DMG MORI AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT.
Mr. Sridhar Balaram, CEO of INTECH added: “Leveraging synergies is key, and the collaboration is a perfect fit of hardware and software. OPTOMET can also be applied to other key technologies of additive manufacturing, such as Direct Energy Deposition and Binder Jetting. OPTOMET is a game changer for the whole additive manufacturing market.”
INTECH is committed to AM and related software solutions, including machine learning and artificial intelligence for the metal AM industry and will soon release additional solutions, aiding users with ease of machine operations and process control, producing quality components at optimised costs.
