EOS has launched the FORMIGA P 110 Velocis polymer 3D printing system at Rapid.Tech in Erfurt, Germany.
Thanks to a series of technical improvements, the machine is said to increase productivity by up to 20%, and also delivers parts with a more homogeneous quality.
The company, which is among the leading firms in the 3D printing field, says the system is perfect for industrial customers, as the system is highly reliable. Without requiring tools, the FORMIGA makes direct use of digital CAD data to produce delicate polymer parts with the highest surface quality at a maximum construction height of 330 mm. FORMIGA P 110 Velocis is also said to be user-friendly, and the operator can benefit from a broad material range which currently consists of 10 polymers.
“The systems of the FORMIGA family have always been distinguished by reliability and productivity," according to Moritz Kügler, Product Manager at EOS. "At the same time, the running costs are reduced by being confined to the materials and electricity used – no auxiliary materials are needed, keeping operating costs calculably low. It is precisely for these reasons that our existing customers appreciate this product series."
EOS' latest release is powered by laser sintering technology, and EOS says parts are ready immediately after unpacking and depowdering with no further post processing necessary. It has a build envelope of 200 x 250 x 330 mm, and the only running costs operators need to consider are the power and the materials. It all adds up to what EOS see as a very capable option for industrial users.
"With the FORMIGA P 110 Velocis, we have refined one of our most successful FORMIGA models," Kügler adds. "Particularly in combination with the EOS consulting portfolio, even newcomers can quickly build up know-how and experience and start with industrial 3D printing.
"It is important for companies to consider 3D printing now and not succumb to any false awe of the technology. Because it is possible to produce parts in very high and reliable quality, even with an affordable entry into additive manufacturing. And with EOS, companies have a partner at their side with great experience and all the necessary competencies for AM serial production.”
FORMIGA is equipped with an improved heating system and software control to preheat the polymer material, and as a results of all these improvements, the nonproductive time of the FORMIGA P 110 Velocis is reduced substantially. EOS is showcasing the new FORMIGA P 110 Velocis at Rapid.Tech, which runs until June 7.
