Essentium has announced the introduction of four new high temperature filaments to its High Speed Extrusion (HSE) additive manufacturing portfolio at Formnext.
PEEK, High-Temperature Nylon (HTN), HTN-CF25 and HTN-Z (ESD safe) materials have joined seven other products added to Essentium’s material offering throughout 2019. The company has also announced the integration of Materialise Magics Essentials to its HSE series of machines, which are being showcased in Frankfurt.
Essentium’s latest material developments have been designed to facilitate a range of industrial applications which require high strength and high heat, chemical and fatigue resistance. The company examples machine parts, tools, jigs and fixtures in markets such as aerospace, semiconductor and oil and gas, many of which are being presented on the company’s stand at Formnext. With the new materials, customers are feasibly able to produce parts like these on Essentium’s HSE 180S and 180HT platforms, the latter of which boasts a nozzle that can reach 550°C, and both of which boast a build volume of 740 x 510 x 650 mm and a heated chamber of more than 110°C.
Supplementing Essentium’s hardware and materials proficiencies is a software partnership with Materialise. This collaboration is to form part of Essentium’s digital thread strategy which encompasses machine health, part health and material health. Materialise Magics Essentials will allow users of Essentium 3D printing technology to import files, make enhancements to the model and repair any errors, and harness analysis tools to guarantee the quality of the part about to be printed.
“We are on the verge of a digital industrial revolution where 3D mass production is set to transform the $12 trillion manufacturing industry,” commented Essentium CEO and co-founder Blake Teipel. “The combination of the Essentium ground-breaking 3D printing platform with innovative new materials and Materialise’s range of software solutions which form the backbone of the 3D printing industry will help tip the balance to full scale adoption. The future of industrial scale additive manufacturing is now in the hands of our customers.”
“There is vast potential in the additive manufacturing market and even more potential for innovative ideas to be realised,” added Materialise Senior Market Director Karel Brans. “We value our collaboration with innovators like Essentium as we aim to meet growing worldwide demand for production-scale 3D manufactured parts by offering more control, more choice in materials and ultimately lower cost and higher volume.”
Essentium has designed its HSE machine, is developing its materials portfolio and enhancing its software offering in accordance with the progress being made in the adoption and application of additive manufacturing technology. In the last two years, Essentium has conducted surveys which ascertained to garner insights from managers and executives of manufacturing companies of various sizes, operating in various vertical markets across the world. From the 162 responses it had in this year's survey, the number of manufacturers using 3D printing for full-scale production has nearly doubled from 21% to 40%, while 47% are using the technology for runs of thousands of printed parts, up from 17% in 2018.
Essentium is exhibiting in Hall 12.1, Stand D31 at Formnext between November 19-22.
