Essentium has announced it is ramping up production of its High Speed Extrusion (HSE) additive manufacturing platforms.
The company has also expanded its international operations with the appointments of a General Manager for the Asia Pacific region and a Channel Sales Manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Further to these developments, 2019 has also been a productive year for Essentium in terms of commercialising materials with seven already added to the portfolio, and more to come at Formnext.
These developments have come as a result of growing market demand and despite Jabil’s filing of a trade secrets lawsuit against the Texas-based vendor this summer. Essentium has been working to bring to market an extrusion-based additive manufacturing platform that enables users to scale to high volumes of parts. Powered by a high-speed motion system and a growing materials portfolio, Essentium has been eyeing manufacturers who need volumes of high-quality parts at speed.
Moving into production of its HSE platforms, of which there are three models (LT, S, HT), Essentium is also developing a presence in the Asia Pacific and EMEA markets. Benoit Valin, who has previously led multiple 3D printing consultancies and was also the Director of Business Development for Asia at Ultimaker, has been appointed General Manager in the Asia Pacific, while Cyprien Decouty, formerly Director of Channel Sales at AON3D and Formlabs, joins as the Channel Sales Manager in the EMEA.
“While we bring immediate, ‘out of the box’ value to manufacturers in terms of cost advantage with an impressive ROI and accelerated time to market, it is key that we stay as close to the customer as possible to provide ongoing support and training. As such, customer advocacy and strong execution as we ramp production will be key success factors to our continued expansion in Asia Pacific and EMEA,” commented Lars Uffhausen, CFO, COO and co-founder of Essentium Inc. “With Benoit Valin and Cyprien Decouty, we now have the strength of expertise and experience in Asia Pacific and EMEA to enable our growth.”
Supplementing the company’s international growth, Essentium is also making strides on the materials side, giving users of its HSE platform access to an additional seven materials already this year, including TPU 80A-Z, an ESD-safe, ultra-flexible grade, and TPU 90A-FR, a flame-retardant material suitable for the electronics and aerospace markets. At Formnext, Essentium is set to introduce a portfolio of advanced high-temperature nylon materials, which, having been combined with carbon fibre, are said to be up to four times stronger than high-performance ABS grades and have a heat deflection temperature of 200°C.
Going forward, the company is committed to expanding its materials portfolios further. The company is championing an open ecosystem approach and has also aligned with the likes of BASF to ensure the demands of industry are consistently met.
“When you remove the roadblocks to innovation, you enable customer success,” offered Blake Teipel, CEO and co-founder of Essentium Inc. “There are no better proof points than an expanding pipeline and growing customer demand to illustrate how much the manufacturing market is responding to open ecosystems and the freedom to innovate on their own terms.”
Essentium will exhibit in Hall 12.1, Stand D31 at Formnext between November 19-22, 2019 in Frankfurt.
