Materials Solutions to implement the EOS M 300-4 machine at Worcester facility.
Materials Solutions, a Siemens-owned business, has become a pilot customer of the EOS M 300-4 metal additive manufacturing system.
The company will put the machine, which was launched at this year’s IMTS, into operation at its new £27m facility in Worcester, UK, which is being officially inaugurated today.
It further extends the partnership between EOS and Siemens, who over the years have installed and integrated the other’s technology. Siemens sought to invest in the EOS P 500 earlier this year, while EOS integrated Siemens NX software into its EOSPrint 2 solution, and integrated Siemens’ automation and drive technology into the P 500 and M 300 systems.
Siemens hopes the M 300-4 will have the capability to enhance productivity at the new Materials Solutions site and potentially expand and improve the service it provides to a host of vertical markets. The company specialises in producing turbomachinery parts with the latest selective laser sintering technologies, and will test the aptitude of the EOS M 300-4 and feedback to long-term partner, EOS. The M 300-4 boasts four 400 watt lasers with full-field overlap and four scanners, meaning the entire 300 x 300 x 400 mm build envelope can be utilised in every build. It has also been designed to work seamlessly with automation processes.
