Optomec installs latest Aerosol Jet system at General Electric
Optomec, the New Mexico-based manufacturer of industrial metal and electronics 3D printing systems, has announced the delivery of its 500th machine, which was recently installed at General Electric.
The latest Aerosol Jet machine joins over 20 Optomec systems already housed within various divisions at the engineering giant, with close to 300 of these electronics focused systems out in the field in over two dozen countries. The patented Aerosol Jet technology is used in applications including high-density 3D semiconductor packaging and directly integrated 3D antenna and sensors, mainly in consumer electronics, medical device and mil-aero markets.
The company's overall install base also includes over 200 LENS metal 3D printers. These systems employ a direct energy deposition technique and are used for short-run manufacturing, upfront wear coatings and repair of worn or damaged components.
Optomec's 500 systems have already been adopted by a number of high profile users including Samsung, Lockheed, Panasonic, Siemens, Honeywell, United Technologies, Northrop, NASA and the US Navy, Army and Air Force.
Dave Ramahi, Optomec CEO, commented: "We are proud to have delivered our 500th industrial 3D printer, and appreciate the confidence that our customers have shown in our products as we have now surpassed more than $250 million in cumulative sales.
"We are seeing increased industrial adoption across target applications in both metals and electronics, which will lead to a continued acceleration in growth."
