Prodways has announced a major new partnership with leading Chinese 3D printing company Hunan Farsoon High-Tech to develop a full plastic and metal 3D printer product range, “Prodways powered by Farsoon”.
These new machines will be based on Farsoon’s current range of selective laser sintering models and will enable Prodways to compete with existing market players as the only non-American company to offer a range of technologies using plastic and metal powders as well as liquid resins.
Established in 2009, Farsoon is the world’s third largest manufacturer of industrial 3D printing solutions specialising in SLS of plastics and currently developing high quality plastic and metal technologies.
This strategic partnership brings together over 20 years SLS knowledge and skills from Farsoon founder, Dr. Xu, and Dr. André-Luc Allanic, co-founder of Prodways and inventor of the MOVINGLight technology.
“Farsoon and Prodways share the same vision and the same values of innovation and a constant search for the best solutions for their industrial customers,” Philippe Laude, Deputy Managing Director of Prodways Group, explained. “Moreover, Dr. Xu and Dr. Allanic have already worked together at 3D Systems before founding their own companies and developing groundbreaking 3D printing solutions.”
Dr. Xu, founder of Farsoon, added: “I am delighted by this partnership with Prodways, which boasts a well-known brand and has a very extensive network of dealers and service providers, and allows innovative solutions based on our technologies to be proposed to industrial customers worldwide.”
Prodways has also announced that it has taken a 45% stake in Varia 3D, a 3D printing service provider with a particular expertise in SLS technology and commercial long-standing partner of Farsoon. This latest development builds on Prodways investment in SLS including the acquisition of Norge Systems earlier this year.
Combining both Prodways and Farsoon’s R&D resources will create a strong research facility to rapidly develop SLS printers using plastic and metal powders. These will be marketed by Prodways worldwide under the “Prodways powered by Farsoon” brand and a dedicated assembly line for these new machines will be installed in Les Mureaux (Prodways’ site).
Prodways will exhibit at TCT Show + Personalize on 30th September - 1st October, 2015 at the NEC, Birmingham and at this year's formnext powered by tct event in Frankfurt on 17-20th November 2015.
