Sciaky Inc., a leading metal additive manufacturing company, has announced the successful sale of four of its Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing (EBAM) systems last month.
Like with previous Sciaky customers, the latest buyers operate in such industries as aerospace and defence. Three of the machines sold in December were EBAM 110 models, while the fourth was the EBAM 150 model. Sciaky says they will be used for aerospace applications and to produce large parts for ground-based military vehicles and warships.
“Sciaky is proud to deliver more best-in-class EBAM metal 3D printing systems to the marketplace, which will be leveraged in a wide range of land, sea, and air and space applications,” said Scott Phillips, President and CEO of Sciaky Inc. “Now more than ever, manufacturers are looking for ways to reduce time and cost associated with producing large, high-value parts, and Sciaky EBAM systems have a proven track record of helping manufacturers achieve these business-critical goals.”
EBAM is Sciaky’s process of depositing metal with an electron beam gun via wire feedstock, building parts layer by layer until they reach near-net shape, and are ready to be machine finished. The EBAM systems can manufacture parts ranging from eight inches to 19 feet in length. With Sciaky’s Interlayer Real-time Imaging and Sensing System (IRISS), users can monitor and control the print in real-time, with the system digitally self-adjusting metal deposition with precision and repeatability.
All four machines sold in December will be delivered to their new owners by mid-2018, while Sciaky hopeful of a similarly productive January, and promises ‘more exciting news in the near future.’ The series of sales is a company record and rounded off another successful year for the company, as it also secured its first Asia-Pacific customer, partnered with Siemens PLM, and won the TCT Aerospace Product Application Award for its space tank collaboration with Lockheed Martin.
