Cura-Connect-software
Ultimaker has announced the availability of its new Cura Connect software plug-in, first launched at TCT Show 2017.
The software solution, which has been brought to market along with the latest version of the Cura platform, Cura 3.0, is a print management tool designed to help prepare files for digital fabrication. With this software solution, Ultimaker has sought to make life easier for those harnessing Ultimaker’s 3D printing systems for prototyping, tooling and small-scale production. Ultimaker customers can access Cura Connect for free through a firmware update of their Cura software.
Ultimaker expects Cura Connect to streamline workflows, allowing users to select and group printers, queue jobs, monitor prints and strategically schedule maintenance operations. Notifications alert users when a printer needs attention, and the software can also automatically recognise which printers have Ultimaker materials and configure them accordingly.
“Making professional 3D printing accessible, that’s what we are working on every day at Ultimaker,” said Paul Heiden, Senior Vice President Product Management. “By continuously developing our hardware, software, materials and services we are making 3D printing a hassle-free solution in any office or workshop. A lot was invested in user research to make sure that Cura Connect fits our users’ needs exactly. We are positive that Cura Connect gives businesses a competitive edge with a reduced time to market, cutting costs, and an improved product life cycle with faster iterative prototyping, ability to customise and efficient spare part delivery.”
At the 22nd TCT Show earlier this year, TCT caught up with Heiden and Ultimaker co-founder, Siert Wijnia as they celebrated 1,000,000 users of the Cura platform and provided more details on Cura 3.0 and Cura Connect. Ultimaker will also be at the upcoming formnext powered by TCT, exhibiting at Hall 3.1, Stand C20.
