ULTRA 3SP
A start-up business has celebrated its rapid expansion into the burgeoning 3D printing industry by announcing its acquisition of industry-leading technology from EnvisionTEC.
Sonar 3D, the sister company of Sonar Intelligence, has taken ownership of two top-of-the-range machines from the 3D printer manufacturer, while it has two more units on order.
The start-up - which was established last month - is rapidly expanding and is run by a management team with more than half a century of combined experience in the engineering, IT and executive leadership sectors.
EnvisionTEC's new ULTRA 3SP dental 3D printing machine was unveiled just last month and Sonar 3D is one of the first companies in the world to install the new technology. The handover of the new equipment coincides with the BDTA Dental Showcase exhibition, which takes place this week (October 17th-19th) at the NEC in Birmingham.
The Ultra 3SP 3D Dental Printer Machine's properties include: a 266.7 x 177.8 x 76.2 mm build envelope, resolution in X and Y 0.004 (100 µm), dynamic resolution in Z and data handling STL. It also comes with a simple user interface with in-built touch screen, few moving parts and minimal consumer components, office-friendly plug-and-play operation, low part cost due to minimal material waste, remote notification when a job is completed and the lowest operational costs in its class.
Moreover, the machine has a footprint of 74 x 76 x 117 cm and weighs less than 90 kgs with a one-year warranty included (two years on Light Source).
The new arrivals to Sonar 3D's portfolio will provide the company with the ability to produce highly accurate components at competitive costs, while maintaining high surface quality and material functionality.
Sonar 3D already boasts a number of clients and this week has already taken on two extra staff members, supplementing the existing new team to meet high demand as the company experiences rapid growth thanks to careful planning and educated investment in emerging technologies.
Its specialities include reverse engineering and bespoke design work, offering clients an end-to-end solution for CAD work and manufacturing. The new EnvisionTEC machines will be used by Sonar 3D for the printing of 3D arches for dental materials such as arches for clear brace production.
Sonar 3D's Kahlil Khabiri said: "We are incredibly pleased to be collecting this new equipment from EnvisionTEC, a company that has itself become a leading force in the manufacture and distribution of rapid prototyping and manufacturing equipment. Their help has been invaluable in our selection process.
"Sonar 3D is a rapidly growing company specialising in 3D CAD work from concept all the way through to design and manufacture. As a start-up business backed by extensive industry experience we are full of energy and very excited about taking control of the new equipment, which will help us to build our business even further."
