While some sectors are still reeling from the economic downturn, Ottawa-based ShapeGrabber ended another year with increased sales and profits, and announced that it has appointed a new sales representative in California.
The company - which sells 3D scanner systems into manufacturing and other industries - has expanded its product deployment in the automotive, dental, consumer products, insurance, medical and educational sectors in 2012.
Furthermore, ShapeGrabber 3D scanners continue to be adopted worldwide at increasing rates.
Pierre Aubrey, Chief Executive Officer at ShapeGrabber, commented: "Many industries are adopting ShapeGrabber technology because our 3D laser scanners add significant value to their processes.
"The need to quickly, accurately, and easily digitise complex-shaped objects in 3D is something that all of our customers have in common. I expect this growth to accelerate as more people become familiar with the major benefits of 3D scanning. The recent release of our fastest scanhead, and more new innovations that will be announced in 2013, will only fuel that growth."
Manufacturers of complex-shaped plastic parts – such as those in automotive, aerospace, and medical industries – are users of ShapeGrabber scanners, using the equipment to rapidly measure complex-shaped parts as part of their quality control efforts.
To broaden its reach into this sector, ShapeGrabber recently signed on Single Source Equipment of Oakland, a specialist in equipment for plastic processing and manufacturing in California and Northern Nevada.
Brian Scappaticci, President at Single Source Equipment, stated: "ShapeGrabber 3D scanners provide real advantages to manufacturers of plastic parts seeking to improve their processes, reduce costs, and increase product quality. We are very pleased to bring a fast, accurate 3D inspection and measurement solution to our customers."
