3D Systems' ProJet 1200 3D Printer for Dental Labs
3D printing industry leader 3D Systems has commenced shipping of its ProJet 1200 Micro-SLA 3D printer.
This compact machine has been designed especially for small, precise, detailed parts and casting patterns such as electronic components, dental parts and jewellery and is a hotly-anticipated addition to the 3D Systems family.
The machine takes up less desk space than a coffee maker and produces finished parts more quickly than present models on the market, while 3D Systems has emphasised its portability, safeness and flexibility. It prints defined, ready-to-use parts and castable patterns that cost less than one US dollar and is priced at $4,900 (£2,970, €3,557), making this high-precision, professional machine more accessible to those wishing to access this calibre of technology.
Chief Opportunity Officer at 3D Systems Michele Marchesan commented: "Priced at just $4,900, the ProJet 1200 delivers what professionals and hobbyists alike have been looking for - reliability, productivity, accuracy, operational simplicity and affordability."
The machine can print at 30-micron layers at effective 585dpi resolution, featuring the kind of surface smoothness synonymous with SLA. Dental labs are one of the main target markets for the ProJet 1200 Micro-SLA 3D printer, which is capable of producing up to 12 precise dental wax ups in less than an hour, while jewellers can make up to five intricate rings in less than two hours.
Vice-President of Global Operations at Sun Dental Labs Chuck Stapleton welcomed the news the new 3D printer is being shipped out.
He said: "Sun Dental Labs is always pursuing the cutting edge in the dental technology field and the ProJet 1200 is a great addition to our portfolio of technologies. The compact size and speed of the ProJet 1200 allows us to further refine our digital manufacturing processes."
The machine is usable by anybody in the office with both LAN and USB connectivity and convenient all-in-one cartridges that are easy to change. Moreover, the in-built UV curing station ensures safe handling of parts and locks in their mechanical properties.
