3D Systems has announced a new FDA-cleared biocompatible dental material developed for use on the NextDent 5100 3D printing platform.
The NextDent Denture 3D+ has received FDA 510(k) clearance, which determines the material is as safe and effective as others already on the market.
It has been developed to enable dental professionals to produce the base of dentures. When teamed with the NextDent C&B MFH material, which has been designed to print the teeth of a denture, users can save up to 90% in cost and 75% in time according to 3D Systems. The new material also possesses excellent mechanical properties in accordance with ISO Denture Base Standards and is said to rival the denture bases produced with conventional methods of manufacture. A comprehensive colour palette allows dental labs are able to match the printed product to the patient’s gums.
The introduction of the NextDent Denture 3D+ demonstrates 3D Systems’ commitment to expanding its NextDent materials portfolio to facilitate a better application of 3D printing in the dental market. All NextDent 3D printing materials for medical devices are biocompatible and CE certified, NextDent Denture 3D+ pending, in accordance with Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC. 3D Systems believes its latest addition to the NextDent materials portfolio gives professionals a number of advantages.
