UPDATED with video from the AMUG 2017 expo floor.
During the official launch of its ceramics 3D printer back at TCT Show in September, Admatec hinted that a new metal technology would not be too far off. Now as the industry gears up to meet at the annual Additive Manufacturing User Group Conference in Chicago, the Dutch manufacturer, along with ECN, will present its first metal system, the ADMETALFLEX 3D printer.
This newest member of the ADMAFLEX series, the ADMETALFLEX claims to deliver metal components with high-quality material properties and, compared to industry standards, low-surface roughness values, fine features and no residual stresses. Based on the principles of DLP technology, the machine uses photosensitive resin, combined with debinding and sintering processes to build metal parts.
The machine has been designed to address the market for small-sized, high-precision, high-performance printed metal components typically manufactured by traditional technologies as CNC machining or Metal Injection Moulding (MIM).
Michiel de Bruijcker, Managing Director of ADMATEC: “With this product, Admatec is underlining its strong cooperation with ECN and the dedication to push the ADMAFLEX technology to more applications and broader market acceptance. Pulling off this task will strengthen ADMATEC’s market position as a leading additive manufacturing brand.”
Jaco Saurwalt, Director of the Engineering & Materials department at ECN: “High-material quality combined with form freedom and fine product details were the goal of our development. By improving both the process as well as the machine, the current ADMATEC ceramics printing technology has been extended to high-density metals.”
Attendees to the AMUG 2017 Conference which takes place on 19-23 March at the Hilton Chicago, will be able to see the new machine on booth 48. TCT will be there to take a closer took at the new machine, plus a range of other new technologies expected to make an appearance on the expo floor. Follow us on Twitter for live updates.
