Left to right: Brian McLean, Brad Keselowski, and Todd Grimm will be the keynote speakers at the 2019 AMUG Conference.
The Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG) Conference 2019 will feature Brad Keselowski, a NASCAR driver and founder of Keselowski Advanced Manufacturing (KAM), and Brian McLean, Director of Rapid Prototype, LAIKA, among its keynote speakers.
Regular AMUG speaker, Todd Grimm, completes the keynote line-up and will kick off the conference on Monday, April 1st.
Grimm will begin proceedings with his presentation, ‘Additive manufacturing: Making Your Own Reality’, which will summarise recent developments in the AM space and provide insights, observations and guidance to the many users of additive technologies in attendance.
The following day, Keselowski will take to the stage to deliver his talk, ‘Winning the Manufacturing Race.’ Keselowski, a full-time NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series racer who established KAM through his interest in technological innovations, will share his experiences of using technologies like AM. He will focus not only on automotive and motor racing, but a range of vertical markets where these technology pieces are having an impact.
On Thursday, April 4th, LAIKA's Brian McLean will showcase how 3D printing has enabled the stop-motion animation company has continued to push the boundaries from Coraline in 2009 to Missing Link, the studio’s newest film due to premiere a week later. In the production of these films, LAIKA uses 3D printing technology for all manner of things, but perhaps most notable is the printing of character faces, in which the company has gone from printing 20,000 different faces for Coraline (2009), to 102,000 faces for Missing Link (2019).
“We are extremely excited about our 2019 AMUG Conference keynote speakers,” commented Gary Rabinovitz, AMUG Chairman and Chair of AMUG’s Program Committee. “They will provide a snapshot of the most transformative ideas shaping the AM industry today.”
Wednesday, 3rd April will see the Innovators Showcase take place, in which special guest, Professor Gideon Levy of Technology Turn Around will take part in an on-stage interview. Throughout the AMUG Conference, there will be nearly 200 presentations, workshops and hands-on training sessions, as well as an exhibition featuring a host of industry vendors.
