Established platform for 3D printing models; Threeding.com, and developer and manufacturer of professional 3D scanning hardware and software; Artec 3D have today announced their newest collaborative venture. The companies will be joining forces to produce a variety of 3D models based on the anatomy of animals. Threeding.com has 40 models currently available that are formatted 3D printer-friendly, with the collection including a selection of skulls, vertebrate mammals and various skeletons.
The primary ambition for this 3D printing, 3D scanning first is to aid veterinary students and biological scientists alike as this would allow them to ascertain the physical anatomical models of animals first hand. The foundations of the collaboration came after many biological scientists suggested in feedback that these vital pieces of equipment, often for specialised use in science and education, were too difficult to not only obtain, but purchase.
To combat this, Threeding.com has disclosed that the collection in its entirety will be made available free of charge throughout June to its users. Free access upon request will then be made available for universities, scientific organisations and students.

Threeding.com have collaborated with Artec 3D before, with past endeavours surrounding historical preservation, educational and scientific projects being prosperous. Several scientific and educational developments in fields such as anatomy, palaeontology, and archaeology are also being pursued by Threeding.com which will soon be disclosed to the public.
