Shapify Booth officially lands in Asda stores.
Bread, milk, eggs, butter, 3D printed figurine … not quite your average shopping list but it is now entirely possible to achieve during your weekly shop at your local Asda store.
Following a successful pilot earlier this year, Artec has officially announced the roll out of its Shapify Booth, the world’s first high sped 3D full body scanner at Asda Supercentres throughout the UK.
For the most high tech selfie available today, shoppers can visit the booth and have themselves and their family members scanned and immortalised in 3D print.
The booth houses four wide-view high-resolution scanners fixed to a rotating rig and can scan a person’s body in just 12 seconds. The scan is then sent to the Asda technology centre where it is 3D printed in full colour.
Artem Yukhin, Artec Group President and CEO commented: “We at Artec are excited to partner with Asda and make Shapify, our 3D photo technology, easily available to everyone. Artec is known for providing 3D scanning solutions to professionals such as doctors, scientists, engineers, and designers. Now we are going further, bringing 3D photos into reach of the general public. We feel the same excitement and thrill that the early inventors must have felt at the start of the photography boom in the 19th century.”
Speaking with TCT last month, VP of Product Management at Artec, Evgeny Lykhin, said that the company had noted the popularity of body scanning in the consumer market as well as practical solutions in healthcare.
Right now the Shapify Booth is available at Asda Trafford, Manchester and Huyton, Liverpool but later this month the service will roll out to stores in York, Cardiff, Swindon, Havant, Edinburgh, Coventry, Milton Keynes and Watford. Prices start at £49 for a child’s print.
