Beam-IT, an Italian additive manufacturing service provider, has taken on two more SLM Solutions machines and will embark on a material parameters research programme.
By installing an additional twin-laser SLM 280 machine and a quad-laser SLM 500 system, Beam-IT has enhanced its production capacity and is hoping to step up the number of processable materials on the platforms.
The company’s now seven-strong portfolio of selective laser melting systems will continue to serve hundreds of customers across markets like aerospace, automotive, and the industrial sector. Beam-IT is currently able to process parts in titanium Ti6AI4V; aluminium AISi10Mg; steel 17-4 PH; steel 316L; cobalt-chrome MP1; and inconel 718-625 with its metal 3D printing capabilities. But through a joint venture with SLM Solutions, Beam-IT will also work on material parameters for the nickel-based alloys IN939 and IN718, hoping not only to add the grades to its repertoire, but share knowledge with SLM Solutions to create a shorter timeframe for parameter testing.
“Beam-IT has a high technical expertise and is working with the Selective Laser Melting technology every day. As a partner to our customers throughout the entire additive manufacturing process chain, SLM Solutions is pleased to share our knowledge with Beam-IT and believe that we will also benefit from their experience with the technology,” commented Kamer Geyisi, Sales Manager at SLM Solutions. “This partnership approach benefits both our companies, but will also help advance implementation of the technology throughout the entire market.”
“We are pleased to announce our cooperation agreement with SLM Solutions and the two additional machines. We regularly produce high-quality parts for our customers using selective laser melting because the SLM Solutions technology works efficiently, quickly and, above all, safely,” added Michele Antolotti, General Manager of Beam-IT. “With the expanded capacity of our new multi-laser systems, we can also increase our productivity and react to the increased interest in SLM technology from our customers.”
