Bowman International is set to strengthen its additive manufacturing (AM) division by taking on AMFG’s AI-powered automation software to enhance end-part production.
The partnership between Bowman Additive Production and AMFG will help the former’s engineers to streamline its AM workflows during the production of bearings and sintered components. The software offers printability analyses features, as well as enabling users to automate the scheduling of production jobs, verify the build status of parts, and automatically generate data intelligence reports. It has also been integrated with Bowman’s ERP system and provides a custom digital part catalogue.
Bowman is one of the leading manufacturers of bearings, and has installed a number of Multi Jet Fusion and Selective Laser Sintering systems. It can also count itself as one of the only companies in Europe to have the latest HP Nylon PA11 material. The company has successfully leveraged AM technologies to increase the load bearing capacity of its split bearings by up to 70%, and a reported increased working life of around 500%. With AMFG’s automation software now also at its disposal, Bowman is confident of continuing to improve the manufacture of bearings, and maintain its position as one of the industry’s frontrunners.
“We’re very pleased to be partnering with AMFG and using their automation software to scale our already expanding AM facility,” Jacob Turner, Head of Additive Production at Bowman International commented. “Additive manufacturing is transforming the way bearings are manufactured, and we aim to continue to be at the forefront of innovating the production of bearings using AM. AMFG’s automation software will enable us to achieve this by significantly increasing the efficiency of our production processes.”
“Our partnership with Bowman demonstrates the increasing demand for the automation of AM production processes across sectors, in this case within the bearings market,” added Keyvan Karimi, CEO of AMFG. “Bowman is a leader in this field, and we’re thrilled to be leading the move towards greater production automation for additive manufacturing.”
