Creabis custom 3D Printing
Concept Case by OKW Gehäusesysteme for custom 3D printing.
German based 3D printing service, Creabis, has developed a handy 3D configurator to help companies offer customised 3D printed products.
The tool, which can be embedded into websites, will allow companies to determine the size and design of a component from a simple list of features without the need for CAD knowledge. The objects are then printed via Creabis which specialised in prototyping, small-scale series, individual products and promo materials.
The configurator functions through a range of simple sliders and selection boxes that allow the user to customise basic 3D objects. The file is transferred to Creabis for printing and delivered in just a couple of days.
OKW Gehäusesysteme has implemented the tool to produce personalised electronics casings online with Custom Case. Created by OKW in OpenSCAD, customers can configure the size, style, thickness and position of cable passages in the casing, which can later be reproduced by injection moulding.
The tool has been created to assist the growing trend for customised products. 3D printing adds value to both the consumer and industrial markets by offering customers the chance to personalise and tailor their purchases. For businesses, the opportunity to be competitive is increased by expanding their product range and introducing new business models in the area of customisation of designs from existing CAD programs.
