Advanced manufacturing company, CRP Group has invested in a range of new technologies to expand its Italian production facility including additive manufacturing systems from RICOH and Concept Laser.
The company, which specialises in additive manufacturing with its WINDFORM family of high-performance composite materials has installed the RICOH AM S5500P, the imaging and electronics company’s first additive system along with Concept Laser’s X line 2000R, the world’s largest laser melting based metal 3D printer.
The RICOH S5500P, which was introduced to the market at last year’s formnext powered by tct is a multi-material selective laser sintering machine and features a considerable build volume of 550 x 550 x 500 mm.
“We are the first in Italy to have a multi-material 3D Printer with large modelling area,” Franco Cevolini, CEO of CRP Group commented. “It allows us to make the most of the range of materials available to us, among which our WINDFORM family of high-performance composite materials.”

Concept Laser’s machine boasts a huge build envelope of 800 x 400 x 500 mm and 1000W dual laser system that increases productivity with faster build times. The machine also benefits from a rotating mechanism so that two build modules can be used reciprocally, eliminating downtimes.
In addition to these additive technologies, CRP Meccanica’s High Precision CNC Machining Department has been upgraded with a Mikron HPM 800U Milling Machine. Built for speed, accuracy and reliability, the machining centre can be used for anything from roughing to precise finishing, optimising the milling process to improve safety and quality for automated pallet handling.

“Speed and volume are important requirements for High-Quality production,” Cevolini added. “The benefits offered by X line 2000R is a decisive competitive advantage when it comes to competing, and it projects CRP Meccanica among world leaders in terms of production capacity.”
CRP Group has been a manufacturing partner to the motorsport world for 45 years and now delivers its additive manufacturing, CNC machining and casting services to applications in everything from satellites for aerospace to generative orthotics for the medical industry.
