Delcam to Support Manufacturers at Subcon
Following record sales from its stand at the recent MACH exhibition, Delcam will look for similar success at the Subcon exhibition to be held at the NEC, Birmingham, from 12th to 14th June. The company will show how it can help suppliers across a range of industries, including automotive, aerospace, medical devices and oil and gas, to increase productivity, shorten lead times and improve quality.
Delcam has been ranked by CIMdata as the world’s largest specialist supplier of machining software for the past eleven years. The company employs the largest development team in the CAM industry to develop a comprehensive range of systems for every type of machine tool, from simple lathes and 2D mills, up to the most sophisticated five-axis machining centres and multi-spindle, turn-mill equipment.
Delcam also develops a complete portfolio of supporting software, for component design, tooling design, reverse engineering and inspection. All of the programs are available as stand-alone additions to existing systems or as part of a complete solution for companies new to CADCAM or those seeking to replace their current software.
As well as providing market-leading software, Delcam has an unrivalled reputation for the training and support provided to its customers. This was recognised earlier this year when the company was presented with the Best Supplier Partnership award for its relationship with Coventry Engineering Group at the MTA Manufacturing Industry Awards.
In addition, Delcam Professional Services offers a range of support to help companies whose own engineering resource is needed to maintain its existing operations. The support given can vary from providing extra design and programming resources when existing staff are overloaded, through to developing completely new turn-key processes for the manufacture of novel designs.
The Professional Services team cooperates closely with its clients to enhance their existing design and manufacturing operations, usually by using a combination of Delcam’s software to develop specific solutions to the company’s productivity and quality problems. The team often work with a network of suppliers of related technology, including machine tools, cutting tools and inspection equipment, to ensure that a comprehensive turnkey solution can be provided if required.
Many of the projects involve process development work within Delcam’s Advanced Manufacturing Facility, which is equipped with production-scale machining and inspection equipment. As well as allowing thorough validation of all software before its release, this facility provides an ideal opportunity for companies to test new processes or to produce short runs of prototype parts without any disruption to their day-to-day operations.
Following increased demand for these services, the Advanced Manufacturing Facility has recently expanded its range of equipment with the addition of a GOM ATOS ScanBox inspection cell for 3D metrology and reverse engineering and a Hermle C50 UMT five-axis machining centre, with a fully-integrated rotary table giving mill-turn capabilities.
