3D45 Dremel
The 3D45 printer
Dremel DigiLab has today released its latest 3D printer, the 3D45, in the United Kingdom.
The 3D45 desktop printer has been designed specifically to suit the education market, and follows on from Dremel’s 3D40 family of machines.
Based in Illinois, the company has now made its 3D45 platform available to customers in the UK. The machine prides itself on its safety – a fully enclosed see-through chamber and an integrated camera allows users to monitor prints from anywhere. Meanwhile, two integrated filter systems protect users from dust and fumes released as parts build. Moreover, Dremel DigiLab says the 3D45 is an easy-to-use plug and play machine, able to cope with hours of continuous use.
The 3D45 supports three different types of material – a plant-based, environmentally-friendly PLA, an Eco-ABS and a nylon material for more advanced users – and can automatically recognises which material is being used and adjusts settings accordingly. It prints at a resolution of 50 µm, and has a build chamber of 25.5 x 15.5 x 17.0 cm. The capabilities, performance, and price of the printer – retailing at £1,499 – make it a very suitable option for educators in the opinion of Dremel.
“3D printers have become an essential teaching tool as the world’s economies gear to the needs of the next industrial revolution,” said John Kavanagh, Global President, Dremel. “The Dremel DigiLab suite provides the tools and range to inspire children and give them the skills they’ll need for the workplace of the future. The DigiLab 3D45 is the first 3D printer designed to perfectly suit the school environment. It combines simplicity of use and reliability with the capacity to produce advanced designs at a price that schools can afford.”
For £1,499, customers receive the 3D45 platform with black Eco-ABS filament, black nylon filament, a USB cable, a USB stick, Dremel DigiLab 3D Slicer software, a spatula, and a glue stick. Filament can be re-stocked for £35.99 for PLA, £41.99 for Eco-ABS, and £47.50 for nylon.
