German RepRap Performance PLA
German RepRap Performance PLA
Developer of RepRap based 3D printing solutions, German RepRap, has developed a brand new PLA filament that will enable 3D printers to produce objects with super smooth surface finishes direct from the machine.
The company, which started in 2010 as German RepRap Foundation, claims that 3D prints created with the material give the illusion of having been post processed due to the noticeably smoother aesthetic quality.
The benefit of Performance PLA is that it can operate at a much lower printing temperature resulting in less warping and better adhesion in comparison to standard PLA.
Benefiting from a more robust feel, the filament is being marketed at not just home users and tinkerers but also industrial customers who may want to produce prototypes that demand more vigorous material properties.
German RepRap says the material has been developed to provide specific material capabilities that make it ideal for the additive nature of 3D printing unlike conventional filaments which they argue are often tailored to traditional areas of additive manufacturing such as injection moulding.
Available exclusively from German RepRap including its global network of sales partners, the material can be ordered in 2.1kg and 750g spools for 27.99 EUR and can be implemented with all standard RepRap 3D printers that use manufacturer independent filament.
