Three 18K gold colour options.
3D print service provider i.materialise has announced another addition to its printable gold material options.
Joining the current 14K gold range, prints will now be made available in 18K yellow gold, red gold and white gold.
Perfect for jewellery designers and sculptors, the material options are now available through i.materialise’s consumer friendly 3D printing service with the added benefit of a faster production and shipping speed.
Printing in 14K gold contains 58.5% pure gold whereas 18K gold contains 75% and therefore products printed in this new material will be heavier.

The same technology is used for both materials. First a wax cast is 3D printed and covered in a fine plaster. Once it has solidified the plaster is then put into an oven to burn out the wax cast ready for the gold to be poured in. The piece then undergoes manual post processing and polishing.
The design specifications are the same for both variations with a minimum wall thickness of 0.5mm, minimum details of 0.3mm and maximum size of 88 x 63 x 125 mm.
i.materialise’s 3D printing service offers a range of materials from flexible polyamide and multi-colour to ceramic and stainless steel.
