KeyShot from Luxion
Focused caustics, procedural textures and toon shading are among the new features coming to KeyShot 4.1.There is a new incarnation of KeyShot, the first real time ray tracng and global illumination program.
This week, leading developer of advanced rendering and lighting technology Luxion announced that KeyShot 4.1 would be debuting live at PTC Live Global in Anaheim this week. The event will conclude today (June 12th) at the Anaheim Convention Center.
The KeyShot developer claims that this lastest version of the popular program will continue to build on the rich features delivered in the release of KeyShot 4. Among these features includes colour libraries, physical lights, advanced Pro features such as view seats and render passes, as well as LiveLinking between KeyShot at 3D modeling applications. These features are just some of the improvements to KeyShot 4 that will increase both the speed in rendering and the flexibility in creating visuals for all 3D professionals across the engineering and design sectors.
This focus continues in 4.1 with major release level features that both complement and enhance the growing feature set, making Luxion's internally-developed rendering technology the most accurate and expedient 3D rendering and animation system on the market.
New KeyShot 4.1 Features and Updates Coming to KeyShot 4.1, Luxion is introducing major new features and enhancements that allow new ways to present 3D visuals. A preview of these features can be seen here.
Focused caustics add the ability for users to accurately represent light passing through materials with speeds in the real time render environment that allow the user to see both the results of the light's reflection or refraction immediately. Users can quickly toggle focused caustic on or off in the KeyShot Project Settings.
Procedural textures is a new texture option with a variety of material appearance to create seamless textures across any surface. Through a simple selection on the material textures tab, users can define both type of procedural texture to use with an array of options specific to each. Six presets will come with KeyShot 4.1 including granite, leather, marble, noise (textures), noise (fractal) and wood.
Toon shading is a new non-photorealistic material type that allows users to apply solid colors, solid shading and contours to objects for a flat, cel shading appearance for use in concept presentation or illustration. Since it is a material type and not a render mode, it can be used along with other materials and comes with a wide array of settings for both shading and contour options. All three of these features are activated through simple selections in the KeyShot user interface making it easier than ever to create the stunning images users desire. Realtime Network Raytracing Along with the new features in KeyShot 4.1, Luxion will also be demonstrating its new Realtime Network Raytracing technology. Through its powerful CPU-driven rendering engine, KeyShot is able to utilise all CPU cores within a computer without the need for any special graphics card. This advantage also allows for multiple networked CPU's to be used with the KeyShot Network Rendering product and now the same advantage is coming to the KeyShot real time rendering environment. Realtime Network Raytracing utilises computers on the network to build the real time rendering array. Users will select the additional computer resources to use. The scene will then push the scene to the network with the slaves all working together in a real time state. This will allow users to perform interactive design reviews of the most complex and detailed in real time.
