MakerBot Replicator
MakerBot 3D printing technology has been welcomed into the Dell design solutions portfolio.
The computing giant announced it will be offering the MakerBot Replicator to create an end-to-end 3D design solution for small to medium-sized businesses enabling affordable and expedient prototyping solutions for a wide range of customers. Dell will be adding the MakerBot 3D printing system to its existing Precision workstations portfolio, enabling engineers, product designers, architects and creatives to design and test their concepts quickly and without soaring overheads.
CEO of MakerBot Bre Pettis commented: "Partnering with Dell is another step in building out the MakerBot 3D Printing Ecosystem that makes 3D printing easy and accessible for everyone. Dell has done a great job with supporting and enabling small businesses, and we are excited to bring our 3D printing solutions to their customers to unlock their creativity."
A recent report from IDC predicted the 3D printing market will grow by 29 per cent per annum from 2012 to 2017, reflecting the evolution of an industry that has graduated beyond early adopters and hobbyists to real and multifarious business applications. Indeed, small businesses are finding that desktop 3D printing provides a cost-effective alternative to enlisting off-site prototyping facilities to create moulds and designs, giving designers and engineers the flexibility to design, built, iterate and innovate more frequently, more affordably and more speedily.
Executive Director of Dell Precision workstations Andy Rhodes said: "At Dell we strive to arm start-ups, designers and engineers with the powerful, reliable and cutting-edge technology they need to succeed. With the addition of MakerBot’s Replicator 3D Printers to Dell’s workstation portfolio, our customers can now bring their innovative prototypes to life much more quickly and affordably."
