The X3 and X5 take Markforged's Industrial 3D printer offering to three, and total 3D printer offering to seven.
Markforged has strengthened its industrial 3D printing offering with the addition of two new platforms, the X3 and X5.
The company’s Industrial Series now comprises three machines, the X7, formerly known as the Mark X, being the other printer of the family. It complements the Desktop Series, which also consists of three platforms, and the Metal Series which so far just includes the Metal X.
By making the X3 and X5 printers available to market, Markforged says its customer base now has access to affordable manufacturing tools, delivering the capability to produce strong, large and light parts.
“For 30 years, 3D printing customers have been forced to accept trade-offs between strength, time, and affordability – lacking the opportunity to benefit from all three,” said Greg Mark, Markforged’s founder and CEO. “With the complete Industrial Series and new Metal X printer, these trade-offs no longer exist. Customers can now, with ease, print same-day parts that optimise strength and affordability for their specific needs.”

Markforged Industrial Series 3D printers are said to deliver strong, large and light parts.
The X3 platform supports Onyx, a high-temperature resistant carbon fibre filled nylon, which boasts ‘incredible material strength and stiffness’, per Markforged. It allows the printer, which is priced at $36,990, to produce engineering grade parts. Similarly, the X5 supports Onyx, but also houses the ability to reinforce it with a strand of continuous fibreglass. With up to 19 times more strength, and 10 times more stiffness than traditional plastics, the X5 is available for $49,900.
These new platforms join the X7, which retails at $69,000. The X7 is Markforged’s flagship Continuous Carbon Fibre (CCF) industrial printer platform, delivering 23x stronger part than with ABS material. Markforged markets this printer as the industry’s only sub-$1m in-part laser inspection for reliable quality control. All of Markforged’s printers share the same software ecosystem, built on a next generation, cloud-based platform.
Already, one of Markforged’s most loyal customers, Dixon Valve, has leveraged a new Industrial Series machine, accelerating its manufacturing process. Able to bring its high strength 3D printing needs in-house, the hose fittings and accessories company has saved both time and money since taking on the Markforged 3D printing technology.
“Our first Markforged printer paid itself off in less than 1.5 months and saved us over 81% versus machining,” said Bill Hollingsworth, vice president of engineering at Dixon Valve. “This is why we’re excited to be first in line to bring the capabilities of one of Markforged’s new industrial line printers in-house.”
