OnShape and Materialise join forces
Onshape is fast becoming one of the CAD industry's most interesting platforms, the completely cloud-based 3D design system has launched a private beta app store for 3rd parties to integrate with the CAD software. Materialise has seen huge potential in Onshape's ever-growing community so much so that its popular file-fixer, 3DPrintCloud, has become the first 3D printing application available in the OnShape app store.
3DPrintCloud tools analyse and repair designs to make them more 3D printable, its integration with Onshape will help users design files guaranteed to print first time, every time.
“At Onshape we are reinventing CAD to work the way today’s engineers, designers and manufacturers do, allowing everyone on a design team to work together using their web browser, phone, or tablet.” said Joe Dunne, Partner Program Manager at Onshape. “We are bringing users the future of CAD and we see 3D Printing as playing a role in that future. Through our combined efforts, Onshape and Materialise aim to make 3D printing technology more accessible to our user community and with its deep experience in providing solutions and services to the additive manufacturing sector, Materialise has substantially augmented our efforts to assist our users in getting their ideas from design stage to 3D printed object.”
“For more than 25 years Materialise has focused on developing software that supports various industries, and empowers useful applications of 3D Printing,” said Thomas Moens, 3DPrintCloud Business Line Manager at Materialise. “Through our Materialise cloud technology which streamlines 3D printing workflows with the 3DPrintCloud API, we are able to bring software solutions that serve as the 3D printing backbone for various industries to a broader audience, and Onshape is perfectly suited to deliver this to its community. By collaborating with Onshape, product designers and engineers will be able to 3D print their parts with greater ease as they let the 3DPrintCloud Print Preparation app analyze and help prepare their designs for printing.”
