Materialise has joined the Altair Partner Alliance making its 3-matic STL software readily available to all HyperWorks users.
The software allows users to make design modifications directly on STL, scanned and CAD data in preparation for printing providing a large degree of freedom for the user.
Parts of a design’s geometry can be swapped in 3-matic STL or imported from a CAD package. The surface quality of the data can also be enhanced with lattice structures or combining multiple topology results.

Altair Hyperworks provides a platform for subscribers to access a broad suite of Altair-developed and third party software applications on demand resulting in maximum software utilisations and flexibility.
“3-matic STL was used by the team to prepare an OptiStruct® topology result for 3D printing,” said Andrew Bartels, Program Manager, solidThinking Inspire at Altair. “It was easy to use for removing fine details, as well as to smooth and thicken the resulting model’s parts that would otherwise have been impossible to print.”
