Bladon Jets, the pioneers of breakthrough micro jet engine technology, has announced the opening of its Engineering Centre in Coventry, UK. The new centre houses advanced manufacturing and development facilities to help the company prepare its innovative products for volume production.
The Engineering Centre was formally opened by Ratan Tata, chairman of Tata Sons, which is an investor in the company through its UK subsidiary Tata Ltd. The ceremony was attended by representatives from Coventry City Council, and key business advisers, partners, and suppliers.
Worcester-based Materials Solutions have been instrumental in the development of the micro jet engines, producing the engines nickel superalloy nozzle guide vane (NGV) assembly.
Impossible to manufacture by traditional forging, casting or milling, the all-in-one structure is produced by Materials Solutions on its EOS M270 machine in a nickel superalloy developed and validated by Materials Solutions.
Materials Solutions develops processes on EOS M270 machines, working with their customers to enable fully functional parts to be made in their choice of alloy. High temperature applications has become a speciality with over 90% of their business coming from aero engines and over 50% going as exports last year.
