XJet, the NanoParticle Jetting (NPJ) Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology pioneer, has announced the first global installation of its Carmel 1400 AM system at Oerlikon subsidiary, citim.
Oerlikon will premier the inkjet-based technology for the additive production of ceramic parts through the citim business, a renowned international service provider of 3D printed parts.
The Carmel 1400 system features XJet’s patented NPJ technology and has the ability to print separate nanoparticle ‘inks’ or fluids for the build and support material. It enables ceramic and metal parts to be produced with the ease and versatility that is normally associated with inkjet printing. Such is that versatility, XJet believes the system could transform the metal and ceramic AM industries.
Printing very fine layers, only a few microns thick, the Carmel 1400 supports complex geometries with superfine details as little as 0.1mm to be created simply and safely, per XJet. The printer features a 1,400 square cm build area, one of the industry’s largest, and thus able to handle high-capacity production, and ensure suitability for a variety of vertical markets.

“The cooperation with XJet is an exciting opportunity for us to expand our AM offering beyond metals and into ceramics,” said Andreas Berkau, Head of AM Service Europe, Oerlikon Business Unit AM. “With over 20 years in the industry, citim has established itself as a leading international supplier of AM parts that meets evolving industry needs and remains at the forefront of AM technology. This collaboration enables us to stay ahead of technology developments and maintain our technology leadership.”
“We are proud to team up with Oerlikon, a global technology group and one of the world’s leading AM service providers,” added Hanan Gothait, CEO and Founder of XJet. “Working together, Oerlikon and XJet are taking a lead in the AM revolution, empowered by our game-changing NPJ technology for metal and ceramic AM.”
Both companies will be present at formnext powered by TCT next week. In Hall 3.1, Booth E30, Oerlikon will showcase XJet-printed parts and its end-to-end services. While, next door, XJet will showcase its products at Hall 3.1, Booth E20. Xjet Chief Business Officer, Dror Danai will also be presenting their NPJ technology for metal and ceramic AM on Tuesday 14th November at 1.30pm at the TCT Introducing Stage.
