P3D to offer full ProJet MJP Series as part of new rental service.
When it comes to barriers to adoption in additive manufacturing, for many small and medium businesses, the steep cost of hardware often tops the list. UK-based Print IT 3D (P3D) believes it may have the solution as it gets ready to launch its first commercial 3D printer rental service for professional users.
From today, the company is offering the full 3D Systems MJP 2500 Series of machines to customers who require high resolution 3D printing without the need for significant hardware investment.
“We have seen over many years many people who struggle with cash flow or people who just can’t raise the capital,” Ian Mason, Director at Print IT 3D told TCT. “We've seen people who require large amounts of printing but they just can't justify the purchase for that equipment so we're looking at building that module into the company.”
P3D is the UK’s only 3D Systems rental specialist and as part of the new service will be delivering the ProJet 2500, ProJet 2500 Plus and Projet 2500 Wax systems which each offer layer accuracy between 16 and 32 microns. The whole package will consist of the printer, finishing equipment, parts, service and labour. There will also be material bundles available in a range of sizes depending on customer needs. With a transparent pricing structure, P3D is offering systems starting at £2,600 per month.
Having been around for almost a decade, P3D is one of the UK’s leading and longest running providers of 3D Systems technology. Mason informs TCT that the company already has a handful of customers waiting to access its latest service which he believes will open up the possibilities for a steady flow of 3D printing users who may have been priced out in the past.
“There are many people in the industrial design arena who have an absolute need for 3D printing. They know they need to bring it in house because the cost of outsourcing can still be fairly pricy,” Mason adds. “We are talking about 32-micron accuracy acrylic 3D printers. In the professional arena, this is absolutely a first.”
Rental packages are available now on a three-month minimum contract, more information available here.
