A Prodways 3D printer with MOVINGLight technology
Groupe Gorge subsidiary, Prodways has recently announced two partnerships which will expand their presence in additive manufacturing.
At formnext 2016 powered by TCT, the 3D printing specialists revealed they would begin working with Cerhum, the ceramic applications expert. The relationship with Cerhum is set to broaden Prodways’ offer of high-performance materials for its MOVINGLight technology.
Prior to the formnext exhibition, which attracted over 13,000 visitors, Prodways signed a strategic partnership with Arkema, who specialises in chemicals. Arkema, who have a historic relationship with Prodways’ subsidiary, Exceltec, will work help develop the new PA12-based laser sintering material solutions to answer the numerous demands for industrial applications.
Prodways’ decision to introduce ceramics and chemical specialists to their already reputable portfolio of work demonstrates their commitment to the additive manufacturing field.
By targeting ceramic materials and printing processes, this partnership endeavours to offer comprehensive solutions for ceramic additive manufacturing with a view to developing new biomedical applications. Based on its MOVINGLight technology, Prodways offers an unrivalled range of printers able to process photoresists in addition to technical ceramic. The end result is precise with high-quality detail and finishing.
Prodways’ and Cehrum’s partnership aims to optimise the synergy between technology and ceramic materials, drawing on the expertise of the ceramic manufacturer in such fields as orthopaedics, maxillofical surgery and bone reconstruction.
“Over and above the combination of Prodways’ indisputable expertise in its exclusive MOVINGLight technology, and Cerhum’s expertise in high performance ceramic materials, this partnership expresses our shared determination to support customers at every stage of their additive manufacturing requirements by offering unique expertise and comprehensive services and solutions tailored to their need for innovation,” said Gregory Nolens, founder and CEO of Cerhum.
Meanwhile, Arkema will increase Prodways’ involvement with chemicals and speciality polymers. Arkema’s Technical Polymers offering includes a complete range of high-performance polymers specifically developed for the automotive, industrial, healthcare, consumer electronics, and renewable energies markets. With its renowned material expertise and 60 years of experience in polyamide powders, Arkema has been actively developing laser sintering solutions for over ten years.
“The Arkema and Prodways teams have worked together on co-development of laser sintering powders for more than ten years,” said Olivier Coulet, laser sintering materials Director and founder of Exceltec said. “After many successes, such as the launch of the new PA12 powder formulas, the signing of the partnership with Prodways will be the natural continuation of those developments and will offer promising opportunities for special grades, markets, and services in 3D printing.”
The overall aim of the Arkema partnership is to develop, new, complete and personalised laser sintering solutions for industrial applications.
